Wilkinson, the value home and garden retailer, is set to launch its brand new store in Bromley next week.

Wilkinson, the value home and garden retailer, is set to launch its brand new store, situated on High Street, on Thursday 19th January, with a little help from representatives from Bromley FC and the Worshipful the Mayor of Bromley, Councillor David McBride.

The Mayor will start the celebrations by cutting the ceremonial ribbon at 9am, alongside Bromley FC’s Football in the Community manager, Del Parnham, first team coach, Neil Smith, Wilkinsons’ chief executive, Stuart Mitchell, and store manager, Terry Reynolds.

The first 50 lucky customers through the tills will be treated to a £5 Wilkinsons’ gift card, while free, delicious hot chocolate drinks with marshmallows will be handed out to shoppers outside the store, to ward off the winter chill.

To raise funds for Age UK, Wilkinsons’ charity of the year, which provides care and support for elderly people in the community, volunteers from the organisation will host an opening day charity raffle. Shoppers will be in with a chance of winning a jam-packed trolley full of products from Wilkinsons’ extensive ranges, which will include homewares, health & beauty products and confectionery.

Terry said: “Opening a new store in Bromley is an exciting prospect for Wilkinsons and the launch day is set to be a fun packed event.

“With our great value, high quality product ranges and our focus on providing excellent customer service, we feel that we have a lot to offer shoppers in the area.

“The whole team has worked hard to ensure everything is perfect for opening day. We are looking forward to welcoming customers through the doors and we hope they will enjoy the new shopping experience.”

The celebrations will continue on Saturday 21st January, when a duo of stilt walking balloon modellers will roam the town centre making fantastic creations for children to take home. A face painter will also be in store between 10am and 4pm, to transform shoppers, young and old, into a variety of colourful characters.

A family owned firm after 80 years of trading, JK Wilkinson opened his first store, situated on Charnwood Street, Leicester, in 1930. The company’s portfolio has expanded significantly over the eight decades that have followed, and there are currently 364 stores across the UK, including 10 in Scotland.

Serving over 178 million customers each year, and selling over 25,000 product lines, including health & beauty, cleaning products, seasonal essentials and homewares both in store and online at WilkinsonPlus, Wilkinsons is dedicated to providing its customers with high quality products, choice and first class, friendly service.

Wilkinsons is committed to Britain’s high streets and prides itself on being a community focused retailer, actively supporting of local charities, community groups and care organisations, as well as its national charity of the year, Age UK.
