From 10:45am to 14:00pm
Green Gym is a refreshing approach to outdoor exercise, designed by The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) to improve people’s health and wellbeing and make a positive impact on the local environment. Each session is 3 hours and are free to attend. No experience is necessary.
Meeting every Monday at 10.45am Green Gym volunteers will be working on key areas of the Park to enhance wildlife biodiversity and bring extra colour and vibrancy to the Park.
Green Gyms are fun outdoor sessions where you will be guided in practical conservation activities but unlike other conservation projects, the emphasis is very much on health and fitness. In fact, almost a third more calories can be burnt in some Green Gym® sessions than in an average aerobics class!
Engage with your community and make new friends. Learn new skills, be it building compost bins, planting trees and shrubs to sowing wild flower meadows, there is something for everyone.
Ni experience is necessary, just bring your enthusiasm and we will provide the rakes!
Each session begins with some gentle warm up exercises before we start our tasks, we have a tea and banana break in the middle and we end our day with a nice cool-down stretch.
Whether it be gardening, construction or just learning new things and meeting new people, Green Gym has something for everyone.
Sessions are every Monday from 11am until 2pm, meeting at Southlands Road entrance opposite Virgin Active Sports Centre.
